Support to pursue a range of degrees

The Griffith College First Nations Scholarship is valued at $10,000.

This scholarship has been established for Trimester 1 2025, to support an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student to undertake their diploma of choice and enable the pursuit of their dream degree and career.

This is an non-academic, merit-based scholarship.

Selection criteria

Submitting your scholarship application

Applicants must submit a scholarship application form (included below). The application will include a personal statement addressing the following (maximum 300 words each category):

  • Details about yourself and your personal qualities. This can include your potential to achieve at college and university, any schooling / personal / sporting / community achievements, community involvement, ability to overcome adversity, and / or your interests and drive.
  • Outline how this scholarship and study at Griffith College would impact your life, and how it would assist you in achieving your current and future goals.
  • Outline your choice of study area and future study progression goals.

Applicants who are shortlisted may be required to provide additional information / documentation to show evidence of eligibility, or to verify information provided in their application. They may be required to attend an interview with the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Terms and conditions

The scholarship recipient must:

  • Remain enrolled full-time at Griffith College in the study program for which the scholarship was awarded (unless a Change of Program is approved by the Griffith College Academic Director).
  • Maintain a program GPA as outlined in the Griffith College Program Progression Policy.
  • Begin their studies in Trimester 1 2025; the commencement period can not be deferred unless special circumstances are considered to be warranted and valid.

Value

The value of this scholarship is $10,000. The sum of $1,250 will be deducted from the tuition fee of each of the eight (8) courses in your diploma program.

Payment

Subject to the recipient satisfying scholarship terms and conditions, they will be notified at the time when results are released for the completed trimester, the scholarship value to be awarded for the next trimester.

If a course needs to be repeated due to failure, any further scholarship value cannot be used towards the tuition fee for a re-enrolment in that course.

Students will be sent information about a payment plan or FEE-HELP to cover the tuition fees where the scholarship value is less than the total tuition fee for each trimester.

Other conditions

The scholarship recipient may take a leave of absence after their first trimester in accordance with College Withdrawal, Deferral and Leave of Absence Policy. Scholarship benefits are suspended for the any period of leave of absence and will resume once the student returns to full-time study, subject to maintaining the other ongoing scholarship terms and conditions.

The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, the scholarship may be terminated.

The scholarship recipient will be required to provide a testimonial about their study experience for marketing purposes.
